The Paperie in Houston

Sara has sent another update from Houston, here are some more pictures followed by what she had to say:

Sara writes:

The 4 canvases from Ranger were a blast. The Claudine Hellmuth look might not be for everyone, but her products are incredible and I see a lot of potential. The melt art class was great, some really neat things can be done with the melting pot and the shrink plastic. Loved the Perfect Pearls Canvas – one of the pictures shows the sides of the canvas which are painted black with the new Perfect Pearls colours and it looks fantastic in person. I’m in love with kraft glassine. Awesome to do an entire canvas with only distress stain too, fun to use that and really see how different it looks from the inks.

The Basically Bare albums are amazing – corrugated cardboard, canvas, acrylic, chipboard, the pages and varying sizes are very cool. And although I am most definitely not a theme girl, the Graphic 45 Wizard of Oz papers we used on this album are awesome.

Make and takes were good tonight, did the Impression Obsession; two Sizzix, one a pop-up; Vintage Street Market; Creative Imaginations with the new cancer line of paper from Bazzill and the new cancer line of Twinkling H2O’s; Basically Bare; Ranger; Hero Arts; and Doodlebug.

Funny people here, I’m laughing harder and more than is good for my stomach muscles.  :)

Talk soon!
-S

Thanks again to Sara for keeping us in the loop while she and Chris are in Houston. We really, really can’t wait to see all of these projects in person! I must say – Sara really looks like she belongs right beside Jennifer McGuire, Shari Carroll, Tim Holtz and Cheryl Mezzetti. :)

Houston, we have a problem!

Just kidding – there is absolutely no problem in Houston! :)  But there is TONS of inspiration, and Paperie Instructor Sara Case Strickland just emailed me a few pictures from the classes she did yesterday…

The first picture is a snap of Sara with Creative Imaginations instructor Cheryl Mezzetti. I met Cheryl last year in Orlando and she was a hoot and a half, but she also brought tears to our eyes with a touching story during one of her classes. The second photo shows cards that Sara made in the Impression Obsession card class with IO founder Mitra Friant. I see a lot of fun techniques in these cards that Sara will surely feature when our order of stamps comes in!

The third picture shows the cards that Sara made in the Hero Arts class with Jennifer McGuire and Shari Carroll (pictured with Sara in the last photograph). The rainbow album is a mixed media project that she made in Cheryl’s Creative Imaginations class – love the look of that album!  The black and white project is a Shadow Box that Sara made in a Canvas Corp class.

BIG thanks to Sara for sending me these pictures so I can keep you all aprised of the fun she and Chris are having in Houston. The only problem in Houston is that we are not ALL there too, right?! :)

Wendy & Krista thinking pink!

Today we’re sharing TWO of the projects that were uploaded to our Mojo Monday Gallery on Facebook for the Think Pink October challenge. The first is a beautiful holiday card from Wendy Skinner…

This card features the Hero Arts – Basic Grey poinsettia stamp, the glittered edge and pink pearl center add a lovely touch, and the strip of patterned paper from the Basic Grey Sweet Threads 6×6 Paper pad brings in another splash of pink. Thank you for participating in the Think Pink challenge Wendy!

Next up is a layout from last months Spotlight alumni, Krista Wells…

Love everything about this layout, the pictures and the journaling really tell the story here which is what we like our layouts to do. If a layout doesn’t tell a story then what are you going to remember about it in 50 years? Thanks for sharing this with us Krista!

Don’t forget to upload your PINK projects to Mojo Monday Gallery on Facebook all month long for your chance to win a great prize! See our previous blog post for more details.

Have a great weekend everybody!

Breast Cancer Awareness

For our weekly Spotlight & our Mojo Monday Challenges for October, we are going to do something a little different…

For the ENTIRE month of October, our Mojo Monday Challenge is: THINK PINK.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month so your “Think Pink”  Challenge is to create any card, layout, project or artwork that incorporates the colour PINK.

Upload your project to our Mojo Monday Challenge Gallery on Facebook, and one random winner will be selected at the end of the month for a prize pack valued at $40!

Every week on our Blog we will feature at least one of the projects uploaded to the Facebook Gallery, so the more you upload the better the chances of being featured on our Blog Spotlight!

We will also be selling our Breast Cancer Awareness cards downtown at a local shop with a portion of proceeds going to charity, I will let you know more details soon!!

In honour of Thanksgiving, we would love it if you would comment and tell us what you are most Thankful for in your life.

As for me? I don’t even know where to begin… I think, right now, I am most thankful for the local music scene. This province is SO rich with talent, and I have been involved (as a fan) in the local music community since 1993. I still feel privileged, 18 years later to be attending local gigs and supporting many of the same talented musicians I saw when I was 13, as well as so many new talents. I could go on and on, but I’ll stop there! :)

AccuCut Showcase – Wedding Show

It’s always a busy time preparing for a wedding show, but we have  lot of fun coming up with the designs and all the coordinating details for our display, it’s also a great time to create brand new samples. For our AccuCut Showcase today, I want to share pictures from our booth at Devotion Wedding Show this weekend past, as well as colourful pictures from our booth neighbour By Sharpe Design.

More details about all of the AccuCut die-cuts we used can be found in our Facebook Albums.
