Pin to Win!
We would LOVE to see your Top 10 lists from CHA, so we have a fun contest for our local Pinterest addicts (and local readers too). There are prizes involved so take a moment to read a little further :)
We challenge YOU to create your own Pinterest board called ”My Top 10 CHA Must-Haves” with the TEN things (no more and no less) that you LOVED from all of the releases at CHA. Please comment here if you are on Pinterest and you intend to play along.

Mojo Monday – Vellum!
Congratulations to all the winners we’ve had so far this month! Today’s Mojo Monday Challenge marks the last Monday of June and as such it is also our last PRIZE challenge for the next little while (don’t worry, we’ve had a LOT of fun giving stuff away so you can expect another prize challenge in late July).
Today’s MOJO Monday Challenge is to use VELLUM on your card, page or project!
Here’s a couple of ideas to help get your mojo going…
Use vellum to print your journaling, make a pretty luminary by wrapping stamped vellum around a pedestal candle holder, make vellum flower embellishments for your page or layout, etc. Let’s have a vellum trend revival (why not, it’s happening for buttons, ribbon and flowers!) Check out these projects for inspiration:

Your challenge this week is to scraplift this layout, creating either another page, project or handmade card with a cluster of circles. You can copy this layout exactly or put your own spin on it. We have over 10 AccuCut Circles to choose from in our workshop if you don’t have any punches or cutting tools at home. To qualify for the prize, you need to share your project with us by uploading a picture to our Mojo Monday Gallery on Facebook by Sunday at 11:59pm. LuminArte Technique Tags with Jenn - Saturday, April 9th (10am-1pm)
LuminArte has a range of different products from Twinkling H2O’s to Color Concentrate to Shimmering Mists all in stunning colors! In this class we will create a series of technique tags. You will have a printed label with the “recipe” on the back so you will be able to recreate these tags and techniques at a later date. Throughout the class Jenn will share with you projects where she has used these techniques so you can see how to translate them to cards, layouts and other papercrafts. You will not want to miss this jam packed class full of techniques – and you will even go home with some products to play with!

Copic Training Workshop with Jenn Shurkus – Saturday, April 9th 2:30-6:30pm
Have you just started to collect Copic markers or want to start? Copic certified Instructor Jenn Shurkus has picked out 8 Copic Sketch markers to get you started and you get to keep them – that’s a value of $63!* Using these markers, you will learn 4 different coloring techniques and get a better understanding of what is so great about Copic markers. We will go over 2 and 3 color blending, blending with a contrast color, shading techniques, blending solution textures and Jenn will demo the Copic Airbrush System! During the first part of this class we will go over a very informative handout Jenn has put together, and there will be time for questions so feel free to ask anything! *Substitutions are available if you already own the Copic colours provided – but you will need to bring the 8 required colors at the class – email the store for a list.

Kit Club – Doodlebug Layout
Want a quick way to get a layout done? Reserve your spot in our monthly Kit Club. Once a month, we will release a kit complete with product and instructions! Take it home or stay and play while the store is open, it’s up to you! April will feature the whimsy of Doodlebug. Kit is available for pick-up on April 6th. Did you know that Class participants get 10% off your entire purchase during most Paperie Classes? A Paperie Privilege Membership is only $25.00 for the year, so if you’re thinking about taking even one or two classes, don’t forget to sign up for a Membership!
Class Registration Policy: Payment is required at time of Registration for all classes, make’n’takes and crops as space is limited and preparation is required. Stop by the Paperie or call us at 726-5323 to register (email registrations are only confirmed with payment). Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours before the class to obtain a Class Credit or refund. For last-minute cancellations, the Class Kit and instructions will be provided. We reserve the right to substitute class materials. For special workshops and events, a non-refundable deposit is sometimes required. Your Basic Tool Kit will be needed for each class – if additional supplies are necessary we will send out an email a day before the class.
If you are unable to attend a workshop you are interested in, we are happy to make up Project Kits – register for any class as you normally would and specify that you would prefer a Kit with instructions.
Soliciting, vending, recruiting, and advertising are prohibited in The Paperie workshop and during our events.

Mojo Monday – Snowflakes
Today we have another fun challenge for you, and it’s an easy one! We want to see you use SNOWFLAKES! There’s a serious lack of the fluffy white stuff around these parts lately (not that we’re complaining) so we want to see your wintery snowflake projects! If you would like to pop by The Paperie you can pick up some die-cut snowflakes, you can also use paper that has a snowflake motif, punch, stamp, or even draw your own snowflakes!

Mojo Monday – Hip to be square
This week’s Mojo Monday Challenge is a PRIZE challenge!
Create a layout or card that uses the Square as the main design element.
Let’s see what you’ve got! Upload your challenge entries to our Mojo Monday Facebook group and we’ll draw a name from the entries to WIN a pack of divided page protectors from We R Memory Keepers! Get creative - make a square shaped card, use inchies, create a layout based on the one posted below, use two or more square photos on your layout, etc.
Here’s an excerpt from the handout that Guest Instructor Rae Lynn O’Keefe designed for her Clean & Simple Scrapbooking class last month. Below you will also see the layout Rae Lynn made with her handy dandy 2″ square punch.
Clean and Simple: It’s hip to be square
- Clean lines, simple shapes, and whitespace are all elements of good design. Clean and simple (C&S) scrapbooking allow your photos and journaling to be the focus of your page.
- Photographs are the focal point of the page – not the paper, not the embellishments or products.
- The C&S style is easily identifiable. It is a pure page, where everything is in place and is held in perfect balance.
- Magazines layouts and advertisements are good examples of clean and simple design.
- Typically, a clean and simple layout will use a neutral background. Neutrals such as kraft, white, or black cardstock background provide a nice dose of neutral color to offset the bright photos, allowing them to stand out, but not overwhelm.

We are seeing a growing interest in the divided page protectors made by We R Memory Keepers; the main appeal seems to be the ease with which you can create a layout, using as many or as few photos as you please. The multi packs are quite popular as they have a variety of different configurations, but the pages with nine 4×4 squares are quite appealing as well.
The divided page protectors are not a new concept – we used to carry the Scrapworks version back in the old days when we first opened in 2004, but trends are cyclical whether we’re talking about fashion, home decor or scrapbooking; everything old is new again! This talented scrapbooker in Washington makes great use of the Clean & Simple style with the divided page protectors.
