Welcome back for our second week featuring Carla Clarke-Robinson of Springdale, our featured scrapbooker for the November Spotlight! Today we have two more layouts that Carla made which both fit the Mojo Monday Challenge this week - using star accents!

Is that glimmer mist I spy spritzed on the background page? I love the effect, Carla has a real knack for combining colours and accents.

Carla has so many layouts to choose from, I couldn’t resist sharing two each week! :)

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Make sure you pop by The Paperie to check out our brand NEW stamps from Impression Obsession – we haven’t even had time to hang them properly yet and they’re already flying out of the box! Their 6×6 Background Cling stamps are an especially BIG hit!

Also new in – a selection of Hero Arts summer stamps, Imaginesce Birthday Bash papers, and some new stamps from Inkadinkado.

Mojo Monday Challenge

This week your Mojo Monday Challenge is to create a page or layout inspired by the song title ”You are my Sunshine”. You can use the quote exactly or get creative with your own interpretation! Have fun, and if you’d like to share your project you can upload pictures to our Mojo Monday gallery on Facebook.

AccuCut Showcase – Skating Star

Today we have two layouts to show you that could also work as a Double Page spread. This first layout features our brand new AccuCut Alphabet templates which is called “Scrapbook Alphabet”. Chris used the uppercase alphabet for this page and three different sizes and shapes of Star die-cuts that we have in our workshop.

For the second layout below Chris featured the Lowercase Scrapbook Alphabet and more of that fantastic My Mind’s Eye paper. We are loving all the accesories that come with these papers – Chris featured three different titles and journaling cards on the two layouts as well.

Our Easter stamps were stuck at customs for an extra week but they finally arrived today! There are tons of adorable images and sweet sayings and no shortage of card samples to borrow ideas from, so pop by the store to fill your Easter basket before the big day!

March Spotlight – Week 3

We’re back this week with another beautiful layout by Shelley Hibbs-Blackmore, our featured customer for our March Spotlight – feast your eyes on this great double page layout…

Layout by Shelley Hibbs-Blackmore

One of the things that I love about Shelley’s layouts (at least the three that we’ve seen so far) is that she doesn’t clutter up the entire 12×12 paper with unecessary embellishments just for the sake of using up the space. I love negative space on a layout and Shelley is great at making it work for her pictures. The focus is always on the pictures which is exactly what it’s supposed to be about. As Stacey Julian, the former Editor of Simple Scrapbooks says, “do you think my daughter is going to care which paper I used or whether or not I used the latest and greatest embellishments or techniques – all she cares about is the pictures documenting our lives”.

We’re busy little bees this week, preparing for our big day with Vicki Boutin tomorrow AND the Devotion Wedding Show on Sunday! The store will be open tomorrow during Vicki’s Class but our workshop will not be available for drop-ins as it will be FULL to the brim! We are also in the process of putting out LOTS of new product from My Mind’s Eye and 7 Gypsies – plus all seven NEW colours of Smooch Ink by Clearsnap.

New Product Alert!

Hello Everyone… it’s been a busy, busy week at The Paperie. Hopefully our Blog Schedule will return to normal soon, but in the meantime we thought you’d all like to know what’s NEW at The Paperie…

Origins Collection

Sugar Rush

We’re busy today doing our Hero Arts Make’n'Takes featuring new stamps from the 2010 Hero Arts Catalog which was just released in late December. We have more Hero Arts Make’n'Takes scheduled for the next two days and still have some spaces left – call the store to register in advance as space/supplies are limited. We are making two beautiful cards, one on Friday (any time between 12-3pm) and a different card on Saturday (any time between 10am and 4:30pm).

Our Friday Spotlight is on hold until February, but I’ll be back tomorrow to post two of the cards we’ve made in our Thursday and Friday Make’n'Takes this week.

Handmade Gift Challenge

As promised, we’re back today to show you the holiday Advent Calendar we were making in class on Saturday.  As you can surely imagine, we are very busy this week preparing for our fall Scrapbook Retreat at the Wilds.

See the glittery borders? Those are made with 1/8″ Scor-Tape and Doodlebug Swimming Pool Glitter – I love the effect. The idea is to put a picture of my neice in the square in the middle, and I was planning to use the title “Counting down to Christmas”. We’ll see how much I deviate from the plan… it’s always so much fun to play and see what you’ll come up with. Often times things will end up completely different from how you intended.

Terri, one of the class participants, was inspired by the new Crate paper that came out on Friday and she used one of the papers for the middle of her Calendar… check it out!

Terri used two pieces of the same paper and cut out some of the ornaments from one sheet to paper piece over the existing ornaments, popping them up with dimensional foam tape. We both decided that we would leave our calendars the natural wood colour, even though the instructions called for Red Paint.

We have a ton of new papers in stock that arrived on Friday – the new Nook and Pantry from Basic Grey, North Pole from Crate Paper, Christmas Carnival from KaiserCraft and more.

We also have ALL of the new A Muse Shimmer Couture Paper – our A Muse 8.5×11 Paper Collection is now complete! We are working on an idea for a cute little A Muse section of the store – hopefully we’ll have this all set up by this time next week!

We are taking STAMP PRE-ORDERS for A Muse and Hero Arts - we will be placing our order next week so if there’s something you’re dying to get your hands on from either company please email us with the name and product code. Stamp Pre-Orders are subject to a Tax Free discount (Paperie Members receive 20% off Stamp Pre-Orders). You have until Tuesday, November 17th to place your order. Check their catalogs online:

Tip + Basic Grey Arrival

We’re back today with a tip and another card to share with you inspired by yesterday’s challenge…

TIP: For this card I only inked up the top part of the Flourish frame stamp, omitting the rest to make a cute corner accent.  I used the Ladybug Memento Dew Drop ink for this – the smaller ink pads, and the dew drop shapes in particular, are ideal for inking specific parts of a stamp – using this technique you might just look at your stamps in a whole new way!

NEW PRODUCT ALERT

Three of the New Basic Grey Collections have hit the shelves here at The Paperie this morning. We have a selection of product from Eerie, Eskimo Kisses, and Indian Summer in stock now and at the rate it’s going it won’t last long! Stop by to check it out before it’s all gone!

AccuCut Showcase – Baby Announcements!

My friend just had a baby and for her shower (back in July) I made two Portfolios of Baby Annoucements featuring the A Muse Elephant & Baby stamp, the AccuCut Card Portfolio and an Accent Frame die-cut. Baby Sarah Emily Baird Locke was born on September 17th!

This gift was a real crowd pleaser at my friend Ally’s shower. The two matching portfolios each had 12 annoucements in them (24 total). The elephants on the cards are all cut out of Bo Bunny double dot cardstock and the text was actually printed on the computer. I included a pack of pink photo corners with the gift so she would be able to attach her own chosen photos before sending out the annoucements.

This is just one of the many uses for the AccuCut Card Portfolio die – think thank you notes for Brides, miscellaneous cards for Teachers or Coaches, a great hostest gift, etc. I’ve also used the portfolio and cut it down to size to fit the A Muse 4.25″ square notecards.

In other news we have spent the whole day today putting out piles and piles of  NEW PRODUCT! New Fancy Pants, BoBunny, Cosmo Cricket and some accessories from a company new to The Paperie – My Little Shoebox. See the teasers below:

Friday’s Features – August Spotlight

This week our Spotlight on Wendy Skinner continues – this time we have one of Wendy’s beautiful cards to share with you…

This card features the beautiful Heart Winged Butterfly stamp from Hero Arts – if you visit their Blog you have probably seen this stamp used a hundred different ways. Love Wendy’s use of distress inks here on the strip on the left.

Speaking of talented local paper crafters, we must send a shout-out to Jennifer Loder of Bay Roberts who was published in the most recent Fall issue of Canadian Scrapbooker. We just received our shipment yesterday and did a quick scan to see if we recognized any names. Congratulations on your publication Jennifer, you’ll have to sign our copy next time you pop by The Paperie! Word has it that Michelle Marks of Corner Brook will be published in the Winter issue, so stay tuned for that! If you or someone you know is getting published let us know so we can send a shout out, and if YOU haven’t submitted yet, what are you waiting for?!

Also new to hit the shelves this week were NEW stamps the Hero Arts Holiday 2009 Catalog - some are sold out already! We are doing another pre-order up until September 1st, so give us a call or email if you’d like to order any Hero Arts stamps.

Friday’s Features and More!

This week we have another Layout made by Rae Lynn O’Keefe and on this page the spotlight is on her mother! Gotta love that Bazzill Swiss Dot Cardstock! Rae Lynn’s use of the Coluzzle circles to cut her picture and the black circular frame is a beautiful touch and the title (Scenic Route Alphabet stickers) looks great hugging the curve of the circle. Anyone recognize the song title reference?! We have a little prize for the person who first identifies the Canadian songwriter who inspired Rae Lynn’s title!

Check out last Friday’s post again because we added a matching Card that Rae Lynn made which goes with last week’s Layout.

NOW… feast your eyes on some of our favourite new papers –  Basic Grey Collections: Lemonade and June Bug, Fancy Pants Kraft Kuts and much more! Come check it out before it’s all gone! (Click thumbnails for larger view).

Friday’s Features – Rae Lynn #2

Hello again everyone! As you may have noticed, we haven’t been updating our Blog with the usual frequency on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday’s and the reason is really quite simple – we’re busy churning out approximately 1250 invitations per month! I joked once before that we might need to get a door beeper that plays the wedding march and don’t be surprised if that soon happens!

In the meantime, we have also been up to our eyeballs planning for our BIG A-Muse-a-Palooza Event, which began today with the FIRST unveiling of the NEW A Muse Holiday stamps in North America! Check out the selection below! (We are accepting pre-orders on all sold-out A Muse stamps between now and Saturday, June 18th).

We have also been busy little bees putting out BRAND NEW product – three full racks of new paper from BoBunny, Crate Paper, Fancy Pants Kraft Kuts and more! Stop by to check out all the goodies before they’re gone!

We’ll be unveiling the A Muse Class Cards here on the Blog one day before each class, so keep checking back for sneak peeks. Thanks to those of you who joined us today for Starbucks Coffee and Cupcakes from Cakes by Mandy, it was a frenzy of fun and stamping excitement!

Don’t forget to check out the upcoming A-Muse-a-Palooza Event Line-up – we still have space available in some Make’n'Takes and our two evening Card Classes (afternoon time slots are filled up) – Call to check availability! 726-5323.

And we saved the best for last today! The July Spotlight is on Rae Lynn O’Keefe, and we have another yummy layout to show you this week made by this talented Scrapbooker… reminds me of going to the Regatta or Thomas Amusements (back in the day!). We loved Rae Lynn’s use of the pink flocking on the arrow – looks just like real cotton candy!

That’s all from us today, check back tomorrow at 5pm for another Blog Update! Have a great weekend, enjoy the beautiful weather (while it lasts)!

Tuesday’s Tidbits – Coming Soon!

Hello Everyone! After yesterday’s Blog post we got to thinking about all of the talented Scrapbookers and Card Makers that have been kind enough to share their stories and styles with us over the last five years.

Beginning this summer The Paperie will be doing a monthly spotlight on customers whose styles have caught our eye at some point… in the workshop, at the Retreat, at a Crop… sometimes even just by bringing their album in to show us how a layout turned out.

We will begin with one of our previous Design Team Members, a talented woman whom many of you already know – Sara Case! Stay tuned for our “Spotlight on Sara” this Friday!

And MORE exciting news… this July (for the first time ever) The Paperie will be participating in…

amuseapalooza

That’s all we’re permitted to say at the moment… we were just too excited to keep this to ourselves. Stay tuned to the Blog in coming weeks for more details on this EXCITING celebration of stamping and creativity.

Do you have a Blog? We’d love to see it! Spread the A Muse Love by adding their blinkie to your blog sidebar:

Never heard of A Muse!? Check out their inspiring website – www.amuseartstamps.com - they have over 20 Instructors and Design Team Members listed on the A Muse Blog who all have their own Blogs LOADED with even more inspiration than you can shake a stick at!

We have some new A Muse stamps in stock now from their Blooms & Bridal collection that are flying off the shelves – more A Muse stamps to come this month, including a selection of their BRAND NEW Summer releases!

It’s a real Zoo in here with NEW Safari and Zoo collections from Imaginesce and Doodlebug! Also new in, the Candy Shoppe Sugar Coated Alphabet Stickers from Doodlebug and their new Candy Shoppe Mini Rub-ons, as well as some new Sugar Coated Dot Cardstock and a selection of more patterned papers!
