This week we’re sharing some of the designers approaches & processes for their own Week In The Life. The most difficult part of WITL isn’t the photos or the words-it’s putting it all together! Let’s see what Mary Ann has to say about that and her WITL project.
I attempted Week In the Life a number of years ago – I took all the pictures, bought an album to put them in – and that is where it ended. I am so excited this year that there will be a set time for me to work on this amazing project.
Normally I take most of my pictures with my DSLR – but for this project, I’m relying on my iPhone. I am doing this for two reasons – first it is smaller and I tend to have it with me all the time, second – I can Instagram my photos! I will not be taking pictures of every moment in the day – but over the week I am trying to capture the essence of my routines. So if I think about my morning routine, on Monday I might take a picture of the alarm clock when I wake up, on Tuesday, a pic of my cup of coffee, on Wednesday a pic of my breakfast, and so on. My goal is to have a series of “Right now” shots of our family room, taken at generally the same time everyday.
For journalling, I am using my iPhone app – EverydayMe. This is an awesome, free app that acts as an online journal. The app will gather all your twitter and Facebook posts during the day, it will also ask great journalling questions throughout the day, and will ask “How was your day” in the night. You can actually customize when it asks about your day – so I get my “how was your day” prompt at 10:00pm.
When it comes to putting my WITL album together, I am going to use my Silhouette to create custom frames, badges and other embellishments.

If you are wondering what our approach to Week in the Life is all about…
This past Saturday, September 7th we kick started the process with a preparation class where each of the participating designers introduced their album and their plan for the week. Each day this week we’ll be going live on the blog with some tips and tricks to help you along the way. If you signed up (or would like to sign up for the crop) we will also be including some cut files, journaling cards and more in email blasts during the week.
Of course, the hardest part of doing ‘Week in the Life’ is putting it all together so we’ll make it easy for you!
