Sunshine Saturday – Charity Crop

Posted by Meghan

Hey everyone, I’m here at MacDonald Drive Elementary for the Sunshine Foundation’s 14 hour Sunshine Crop! The Paperie is a proud supporter of this very special event coordinated by Charmaine Winter. We have our AccuCut die-cutting system here for crafters to use, and we’ve got some great prizes up for bid in the Silent Auction (which is open to the public until 9pm tonight (Sept. 21st).  We donated a fun Project Life Starter Kit & some exclusive Paperie Card Kits – but there are TONS of prizes up for auction; designer handbags, gift certificates for local businesses and restaurants, scrapbook kits sent by Amy Tangerine & Vicki Boutin, and SO much more. A little someone for everyone, not just paper crafters.

Earlier this morning I did a quick demonstration on Faber Castell Gelatos. I created an ombre background using ‘the baby wipe swipe technique’ I learned from Damask Love. You just scribble gelatos in gradient colours across your piece of paper, then swipe a baby wipe across to blend the colours together. Easy Peasy, and you can do a ton of other fun stuff with Gelatos too – just refer to Cathie’s guest blog post!.

Here’s the card I made using the ombre piece of paper I created with Gelatos:

And here are the rest of my supplies:

I’m loving Hero Arts shadow ink cubes and my Avery Elle stamps, all new purchases for me! 🙂

After the demo, my crop neighbour June Kirkland-Smith decided to try Gelatos for the first time. Just look at the gorgeous layout she made! It was fast and easy using baby wipes and a rainbow of Gelatos.

Here is a group shot of all the crafters, and some pictures from the Crop.

Thanks to Charmaine for putting this all together, and thank you to all the crafters for coming together to support a great cause – we’re so happy to be able to contribute alongside this amazing, caring community of Paper Crafters.

This event has me even more excited for our Fall Scrapbook Retreat – there’s something so delightful about a room full of creative people doing what they love. Registration opens up to the public on Monday morning, see {this blog post} for more details.

Hope you’re having a creative weekend!
