Dreams come true – really they do!

Hi Everyone!

So this post is a little different for us – it’s a bit more personal in nature for sure but applicable we thought given the common interests we all share within The Paperie community.  As many of you know I joined Janna as co-owner of The Paperie in 2012 and since then we have worked extremely hard to gain efficiencies within the business and achieve some of our own personal goals and build on the huge successes already at play.  We have grown our kits to include a card kit and we have enhanced classes … a lot!  We have stepped up with regard to our blog presence and we continue to work at refining the retreat experience for our customers.  At the heart of all of this work and desire to improve is our own love of memory keeping and everything it entails.

As part of our work we follow many scrapbookers and paper crafters and numerous businesses as they release new product offerings and techniques.  For over 10 years we have followed Ali Edwards and her growth as a business owner and designer and have maintained that she embodies what we strive for in memory keeping. Authenticity and a strong, unwavering focus on what this hobby is all about – telling stories and keeping memories alive.  Ali teaches about sharing the most routine aspects of our lives to the more celebratory events.  This past weekend Janna and I had the opportunity to attend Crop and Create in Markham, Ontario (mostly because Paperie instructor Krista Wells insisted that this was a great opportunity for us) – and well wow is all we can say just WOW! The weekend was full of amazing learning opportunities (3 classes by Ali and 1 by a Paperie customer favourite Vicki Boutin.  We had an opportunity to speak with Crop and Create/ Scrapbook & Cards today founder Catherine Tachdjian about the industry and share our excitement about the lineup of instructors and perhaps even discuss some treats for our upcoming 20th retreat!

Crop and Create was an amazing weekend for a mix of reasons; we met and were taught by Ali Edwards … I mean come on! It was amazing and refreshing and we walked away not only with a lot of amazing product but also with a renewed sense of reason of why we make time for this amazing hobby. We are refreshed and ready to share some of what we learned and we may have even brought back some pretty cool prizes to give away at the retreat … you should join us!

Thanks for being part of The Paperie community and this amazing hobby!

Wendy & Janna

Ps. If you check out Ali’s blog for today’s date you may even see us !
