March Card Kit – Designer Melanie Smith

Hi Everyone! Melanie Smith joined us as guest designer this month … here is Melanie..

Hello everyone!

This month I was delighted to be able to create with the new card kit. I was pretty productive, I must say, quickly pumping out 7 cards and one layout. The kit included some very useful sentiment stamps, so I am proud to say that my mother’s day and father’s day cards are already taken care of. For the first mother’s day card, I used some chalk paint on top of the red and pink patterned paper instead of the white paper rectangle that I would typically use. The flowers and butterflies in the first 2 cards were cut from the patterned paper pad in the kit.

image

This card uses the ampersand from the patterned paper, and the heart stickers to make a sweet little love note.

image

The pretty navy ribbon in the kit was the perfect embellishment for the next 2 any occasion cards.

image
image

So if the moms get fussy cut butterflies and flowers, so do the dads! The navy ribbon makes another appearance in the first Father’s day card, and the tags in the second were cut from the patterned paper. I used markers to colour in just a few of the flowers from the black and white paper.

image

image

Finally, I used the patterned paper to create 2 layouts. I used some of my new thickers on this 8.5×11 page, and to coordinate, I cut the words “the” and “from” with my silhouette and gold embossed the negative.

image

I used some paint again on the tag for this layout, and I added a couple of new things that I picked up last week at the Paperie. The word “silliness is part of an embellishment pack, and I painted it with some new prima art alchemy shimmery paint. I also put a few drops of that around the page, and finished it off by circling my photo withe some twine.

A big thank-you to the Paperie for asking me to design this month. I always love any opportunity to create something 🙂

Instax Layout

Occasionally we will use a card kit to make something other than cards – might be Project Life cards, a layout or a mini album. This month my daughter happened to be using her instax camera she got for Christmas so I decided to make a layout about our new cabin using left over bits from the kit.

Instructions:

  1. Use black and pink envelopes (you have already cut flaps from them for cards) to create spots for hidden journaling.
  2. Mat your photos on the envelopes
  3. Pull some white cardstock from you stash and cut to 5 x4 pieces to create journaling cards
  4. Cut two 2×3 inch strips and fold over and adhere to top left edge of journaling blocks to create pull tabs
  5. Insert into envelopes, adhere (only placing adhesive on the envelopes) to white cardstock leaving ¾ inch gap between two envelopes
  6. Cut 1 ¾ x 3 inch strips from diamond, multicolor heart and yellow heart patterned paper (all scraps you should have from previous cards)
  7. Cut ‘v’ for banner into strips
  8. Adhere under envelopes to right side
  9. Stamp sentiment using font stamp and date stamp
  10. Adhere Freckled Fawn stickers as embellishments
  11. Done!

Hope you enjoy the projects we made with the January card kit.  Call the store to get yours today – remember we’ve moved to bimonthly kits.

December 2015 Card Kit

Hi all;

Janna and I shared the December card kit and played with it at the fall retreat.

image

The first card is super simple with the gorgeous doiley included in the kit.  The embellishments are made by cutting up one of the pages of patterned paper and used foam adhesive to add.  There is also some Viva Decor pen added a bit of shimmer to the doily with some dots.

image

Another gorgeous card made by using a larger piece of the patterned paper to create a card panel.  Gold embossing the  tree image onto the doily helps it stand out a bit more.  Finished it off with a bit of twine.

image

This card is one of my favourites -just some simple stamping on a one layer card with 2 of the tree images.   The banners at the top were made by cutting strips from the patterned paper.  The die-cut word was made with some foil from my stash and the Big Shot and dies.

image

This card features a wreath out of the patterned paper scraps and a few circle punches.  Added the sentiment with the letter stickers and finished it with a bit of twine.

image

An embossing folder and some basic layers created this elegant looking card.

image

I love the look of white embossing on kraft and this card could easily be duplicated quickly to make a winter stationary set.

image

I love the layering on this card and the embossed snowbank – beautiful.

If you don’t subscribe to our card kit and want one just give us a call as we often make 1-2 extra – first come first serve!

November Card Kit – 2015

Hi Everyone!

Happy Fall!  I love the Paperie kits – card and layout.  I can sit down with either the basic tools or jazz it up and make a ton of projects all at once with very little effort.  I managed to get several cards and stay tuned for a layout later in the month – I have it all put together just need to get the pictures.  Here are the cards:

image

I used the Hero Arts ombre ink pads for this one layer card and I love how it turned out – that medallion stamp is amazing!

image

I loved the medallion stamped with ombre so much that I made another and just added a tag.

image

I heat embossed the sentiment in gold, added some old book paper as a layer and then added the Prima flower to the tag as a focus.

image

I heat embossed again with this one and then just added a few stripes of patterned paper and the sentiment in brown ink.

image

The patterned paper in this kit is so gorgeous with lots of interesting patterns and a few pieces you can cut up which is what I did here for the layers.  And those woodgrain Simple Stories letters – love them!

I still have tons of supplies left over to make more.

October Card 2015 Kit – Tina’s take

Hi all;

Tina decided to play along this month and oh my goodness – gorgeous projects… and so many! Wow!

image

I love how Tina mixed the patterned paper on this one and die cut some layers.

image

This one is simple and masculine – love the sentiment stamp.

image

Tina shows with her projects how versatile a card kit can be – see how colourful this one is compared to the others – love the off stamping.

image

Wow can she color – love this combination.

image

Another great one with die cut layers.

image

These vintage floral ones are my favourite – I may steal them!

image

The framed sentiment die cut with the stitches – great detail.

image

again the die-cut details – super cute.

image

The ruffle on this one is a great idea – that would look nice on a layout too.

image

Simple yet effective – that woodgrain paper is lovely.

image

The angles add so much interest on this card.

image

Masculine and feminine together – perfect combo.

image

image

Simple mini book.

And for the finale – look at this mini album… what an awesome gift this would make:
