Happy Monday! Happy Mojo Monday!!
This week our challenge is to include others in the creation of your project.
This fall both my husband and I celebrate our 40th birthdays. My husband’s is today. When I asked him what he wanted for his birthday, he said “pictures of the boys.” I decided to use this idea and create a special mini album for him to mark the occasion. My three boys and I went through lots and lots of photos and chose 40 that told some kind of story about them and their dad. The album is “40 Reasons why we love you.”
The boys took turns, one after the other, writing a reason next to each of the 40 photos of what they loved about their dad in that photo. The creation of the project ended up being a wonderful experience for me, because I got to sit and listen to them laughing and sharing the photos with each other and deciding what they would write. They did all of their own printing, which was quite the feat for our youngest at 6.
The end result is a gift that is meaningful to us all as a family. The boys got to invest their time and thoughts into a gift for their dad, I got to put it all together and my husband was so overwhelmed when they shared it with him this morning. All around a truly meaningful project.
I really believe it is a good idea to involve those we love in what we create. I want my family to spend time with the albums we have and know about the story we are telling together. By having them participate, whether it’s writing, cutting, assembling, or just offering a comment for your journaling, it is a beneficial practice to have them involved.
I hope you are participating in the #sharehandmadekindess challenge that we shared last week. Jennifer McGuire explains the challenge with “I think every one of us can agree that we love to create — cards, scrapbook pages, treats, and more. Making things by hand makes us happy. And when we share these creations with others, we also share that happiness. There’s nothing better! It’s a simple act of kindness that can brighten someone’s day and leave a lasting impression… and our world needs more kindness.”
Week One of the challenge was to share kindness with Friends and Family Members.
Week Two of the challenge was to share kindness with those who work in our Community.
Week Three of the challenge is to share kindness with Kids.
Have fun with this week’s challenge! I hope you are able to include someone you care about in the creation of a project this week.
