Festive Fun.

I don’t often create many 12×12 layouts during the month of December because I am busy working on my December album. I decided this week to use one of my first photos as I document December and create a layout with a background I created at our Fall Retreat. Cathie Reed taught one of our classes, hers being a fantastic mixed media one!

I started with the background, added to odds and ends from my December Album stash and came up with a layout for my album.

A big THANK YOU to our instructors who helped us out and inspired us at the Retreat weekend!

Have fun! I hope you are all inspired by something wonderful this week!

Documenting December

It’s November 30th! That means that tomorrow is December 1st and the beginning of my Documenting December album! I love December – so much activity and so much fun for my children and our family. I love to give December some special attention documenting the daily happenings.

There are lots of ways to get in on the fun! You could create a mini album to capture all the memories in one location. I love to include so many of the “extras” that go along with December; letters to Santa, Christmas cards, tickets to the Nutcracker, programs from school Christmas concerts etc.

Another option is to include December in your Project Life® album as you would any other month! The Paperie is super excited this year because we have own very own December cards created that will fit perfectly into your Project Life® album or your very own mini album!

There’s a ton of inspiration out there online and from our very own customers and Paperie Instructors! Here’s a handout we created and shared with some customers this past week as they prepare to set out Documenting December!

You should also check out Ali Edwards’ website where she will feature her December Daily project this month! Some fantastic ideas there as well!

It’s never too late to get started. Get out your smart phone and start taking pictures! Visit us at the Paperie if you have questions and we can set you up with what you need to create a wonderful album of memories for a fantastic time of year!

Have fun! I hope you are all inspired by something wonderful this week!

Convenience!

This week I set out to make some Back to School cards for the students I had in my class last year. I like to send out a little bit of ‘happy mail’ to say Happy Summer! and to wish them well as they head back to school.

I found a bus stamp amongst my stash, stamped the images over twenty times and then used my PixScan mat for my Silhouette Cameo. This tool completely removes the “fussy cutting” of so many images. So easy and so convenient!

After stamping, I took a photo of the images laid on the PixScan mat, with my phone and uploaded it to the Silhouette software,

The software is super easy to use, et voilà! The school bus images were cut out! I can see this being a great way to make multiple Christmas cards this fall as well!

Here’s what I came up with :

This beautiful layout –

mymindseyeinspiredby

Have to admit that I am still spending time scanning Pinterest for ideas on all kinds of things. Have to also admit that my follow-through on creating what I pin, is still not the greatest 😉

I found this beautiful layout this week created by a member of the My Mind’s Eye team. I love the layout of the photos as well as the colour combination. The word “love” caught my eye right away and I love how she mixed the fonts on the title.

I quickly found some patterned papers and card stock from the leftovers of a Paperie Page Kit. Love using up the bits of an old kit in a new way!! I also nabbed these stickers at the shop this week. New arrivals from Crate Paper 🙂

Here’s what I came up with;

If you’re someone who loves to sit down with a kit and get busy – there’s a great class for you being offered next week @ The Paperie. Our instructor Sara Case Strickland, will be making summertime layouts with a kit. Call or email us for details!

Hi Everyone!

One of the things I love the most at the retreat is seeing other people’s projects and how different people use product differently.  For this Inspired By I thought I would share 3 layouts using the same piece of paper; 1 by me and 2 by  Paperie customer Kelly Kirkland.

Here the paper that inspired us, from the BoBunny ‘toy box’ line:

Here are Kelly’s gorgeous layouts:

I love how this paper just demands to be cut apart and see the arrows Kelly created in the second layout – and how she added titles – love it!

Here’s my layout:

and yes I cut all of those out!

I think it’s all the patterns and the arrows in this paper that made it a favourite of ours.

Hope you’re inspired this week.

Hi Everyone;

Here’s the layout that inspired me this week:

It was the torn paper and the dots that caught my eye on this one .. and of course all the layers.  Here’s my take:

and a close up:

I literally have a section in my scrap room of plastic drawers where I store all my embellishments that come from kits or ones I just ‘had to have’.  When I make a layout I just go to those drawers and ‘shop’ – works well for me.

Hope you’re inspired this week!
