Mojo Monday – June 13/16 – Show It and Share it!

Happy Monday! Happy Mojo Monday!!

This week’s Mojo Monday Challenge is to share your creations with someone other than yourself 😉

We all have so much fun making pages, but we don’t always share them with anyone but ourselves. My boys like to flip through my albums, usually the current Project LifeÂŽ that I am working on, and laugh and tell the story behind the photos. I also have an area in my home where I post 12×12 layouts as I finish them, so that my family can see what I am making and they can again share the story. I use magnetic cork boards, and rotate the pages out as I make new ones. They are on the wall first, until I make more, and they move into an album.

I also keep my albums in a location in the house where we can reach them easily, and anyone can take them out and go through them. I once participated in a seminar on the power of positive thinking. The presenter told us that if there is something that you want to remain focused on, put the message in a place where you are guaranteed to see it everyday. For me, part of that, is displaying the photos that stories that make up who we are.

At the Paperie now, we have some great clipboards that are made by Doodlebug Design Inc. They are the perfect size for displaying a 12×12 layout in your home.

My Sister in Law celebrated her birthday recently and we gave her this as a part of her gift. The photos are from a girls trip we took to NYC a couple of years ago. By cutting the background paper, I could then frame the layout, and now these memories are up on the wall.

And for something a little more silly, you can share your creations with your kids around the house too! I have three boys who are all Star Wars fans, so I thought this Pinterest inspired project was a perfect way for me to test out using vinyl with my Silhouette Cameo 🙂

Yes, that is the toilet seat in the boys’ bathroom. I am a great “Pinner,” but don’t always create what I have pinned. The Silhouette worked like a charm 😉

Have fun sharing your creations this week!

Mojo Monday – May 30/16 – Card Sketch

MojoMonday_edited-1Happy Monday! Happy Mojo Monday!!

This week’s challenge is to use this sketch to create a card;

For anyone my age 😉 celebrating a milestone birthday, the sentiment on this card is great!

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the scalloped circles and various circle punches for the smaller circles.

I love going through my stash and finding scraps that coordinate together to make great “bits” for a card. Metallic colours on vellum are some of my favourites right now.

Have fun!

Mojo Monday – May 23/16 Clouds & Kites

MojoMonday_edited-1Happy Monday! Happy MOJO MONDAY!

Happy May Long Weekend! The weather was just glorious this weekend and to keep the outdoor theme going in our craftrooms, let’s use a fun outdoor activity as our inspiration this week…

Your challenge is to use a KITE and/or CLOUDS on your card or layout.

Here’s a cute sketch from PageMaps to inspire you (it’s not mandatory to use the sketch, but your project must use a kite or cloud somewhere.

Have fun!!

Mojo Monday – May 2/16 – Retreat Wrap-Up & MM Challenge

MojoMonday_edited-1Happy Monday! Happy Mojo Monday!!

We are so delighted to have spent this past weekend, sharing what we love to do – creating beautiful things with our friends. Our 22nd Scrapbook Retreat Weekend was a great success enjoyed by many who spent some time relaxing, laughing, creating and having a weekend “away” from the regular routines of our busy lives.

Here are some photos from the weekend;

This week our challenge is inspired by this layout – Use a polaroid photo on a layout or a card;

This was one of the gorgeous layouts Norine created this weekend. We love the mixed media and I thought the use of a polaroid would make a great Mojo Monday challenge! If you haven’t got a Polaroid camera, not to worry. Die-Cut a polaroid frame and put it around your photo on your layout or card. If you are using a Polaroid photo, get creative like Norine did, and journal on the bottom section – We would recommend you use your Zig Photo Signature pen which is great for journaling right onto a photo or “slick” surface.

Thanks Norine for inspiring our challenge this week 🙂

Have fun !

Mojo Monday – April 18/16 – Vellum Challenge & Pre-order Offer!

MojoMonday_edited-1Happy Monday! Happy Mojo Monday!!

This week our challenge is to use vellum on a layout or card;

When I think back to the cards I made about five years ago, I was using vellum lots – to stamp on, to emboss on, to add a sheer layer. There are many manufacturers now who are making die cut embellishment packs that have vellum elements. Vellum continues to be used, and when I read this blog post from Jennifer McGuire this week, I was inspired to give this technique a try. I just love how she created the flower overlays on these cards. The floral stamps, and colouring are gorgeous and the stamp set she used is from a company called Altenew.

We are excited about this line of product and are offering a pre-order on this line as a promotion with this week’s Mojo Monday blog post. Check out the Altenew website, email us with a preorder list of goodies that you would like, and we will offer you those items at a TAX free discount once they arrive! Preorder closes on Sunday, May 1st/16.

Here’s my take on this week’s challenge. I stamped and coloured (with my Copic markers) a couple of Hero Arts flowers onto a white card. I placed the vellum card over the flowers I had stamped on the white card, and then using a VersaMark ink, stamped the flowers again on top. I heat embossed a white embossing powder on the vellum. I embellished my card with Stickles at the centres of my large flower, and added some gold enamel dots. The thank you sentiment is also heat embossed with a gold powder.
