Instructor: Krista Wells
Why do you scrapbook?  Is it to play with new products? Is it because you have stories to tell? Is it to express your creativity? Is it all of the above?  Come join us on Tuesday, October 21st for a class that combines it all.

From Krista Wells  (instructor) “Scrapbooking is in essence story telling. I love to tell stories but I also love the products that we use to play and scrapbook. I’m often inspired by shapes – circle, triangles, squares. I love to find different ways to combine them to tell stories. I’m always on the hunt to find interesting ways to tell my story through a layout. That’s what ‘Shape Your Story’ is all about – finding new and innovative ways to tell our stories through shape & different journaling techniques.

Create a Kit Class – Wednesday October 30th

Create a Kit –with Krista – Wednesday, October 30th (6:30 – 8:30pm)
Can you believe it’s almost Retreat time?  As we all start thinking about what we are working on and what to bring with us we inevitably think about how to kit our supplies to make transporting and getting projects completed done.  If you’re like me you also want to use what you can from your stash – and who is better to ask for tips than the stash buster herself Krista Wells!

Krista swears by kits because they make scrapbooking more efficient and more organized – which means more time for creating!

Continuing in the tradition of kitting Krista is back right before our Fall retreat for another edition of her ‘Create a Kit’ class. She’ll be discussing methods of combining papers and this time around she’ll be focusing on embellishments-namely old & mostly used embellishments which we all have a ton of. How can we make those ‘new’ again? By combining them with new and unexpected product. She’ll also be sharing a few layouts using up some letter sets that are nearly used up or old that you can take some tips from for using up all those old letters stickers and bits! Come check it out and see how creating kits can make your scrapbooking process more efficient!

Join us as Krista  reviews the recipe for a great kit and challenges you to mix the old with the new. Bring along some of your embellishments and element sticker sheets that you’ve collected and she’ll help you see them in a whole new light!  Imagine having all your supplies organized and ready to go so you can enjoy creating without the fuss of choosing your products. What a great way to prep for the upcoming Retreat!  Also with our second hand sale this Saturday you may find some ‘new’ supplies to add to your kits.

Clean & Simple Christmas Elegance

Hey everyone! Here’s a little peek at the Christmas cards we’re making in class tonight.

This first card was inspired by Lucy Abrams for Hero Arts. I loved her layout, so I didn’t stray too much from her overall design.

CANON rebel 002

Tonight we’re playing with the snowflake die from Hero Arts and an AccuCut ornament die to make two elegant clean & simple beauties.

CANON rebel 005

I found that the Hero Arts dies works best with the intricate Metal Die Adaptor plate from Memory Box – check out the video which shows how to use the Adaptor – a must-have if you love intricate dies as much as I do!

The spot shim looks tedious – I’d much rather use the Metal Die Adaptor!

Here’s a bonus sample I made with some leftover bits from my ornament card…

CANON rebel 011

I used the AccuCut Vintage 1″ letters to spell Joy with some tiny scraps of leftover glitter paper. Also used here is the Trellis embossing folder from one of my latest Sizzix sets, “Rose Vines & Trellis”. We’re sold out but let us know if you’d like to reserve it – the other one is even prettier!

Okay, that’s all for now! I’ve been working on this post all day in between customers – hope you enjoyed the eye candy! 🙂

Class Peeks

Posted by Meghan

Hey again everyone! I’m back as promised to show you the other Christmas card we made in class on Tuesday, along with a few others I made during class while I had all my supplies out.

CANON revel 023

This colorful idea was inspired by this awesome card by Ardyth Percy-Robb which I saw a few months ago on Twitter. I loved her white snowflake with a peek of all those fun colors hidden underneath – such a cool idea! The AccuCut made our job a lot easier because we were able to cut out ALL seven layers at once (although I’d recommend 5 layers max for future reference).

CANON revel 025

I was able to use up a pile of scraps so we could make a combined total of 30 of these cute cards. We started talking about the other AccuCut dies that would look great with this technique, and I decided to make a kids birthday card next with the Balloon die.

CANON revel 018

First I tap-tap-tapped the wands from various Dylusions inks to create my inky “confetti” background, then attached my balloons. I stiffened up my twine by dragging it through some Studio Matte Medium first, which also worked as adhesive and allowed me to position it in a loop-de-loo. I love that Hero Arts sentiment too, the font is called Peoni by my favourite font designer Emily Lime.

CANON revel 021

After that, I demonstrated to class how they could achieve an ombre background quickly and easily using a Tm Holtz broad tip water brush with some London Fog Dylusions Spray Ink on a non-stick Craft Sheet…

CANON revel 009

So! That’s the kind of fun we’re having making 10 Christmas Cards a month in my clean & simple card classes. I can’t wait to show you what I have planned for my May Flowers class on May 14th! I have some FUN techniques up my sleeve using the Memory Box Prim Poppy die.
