Mama Elephant Pre-Order

Holiday Card Planning

Have you thought about the cards you want to make for the upcoming holiday season? Today we would like to share some of our favourite stamps from a lovely company called Mama Elephant who are celebrating their second anniversary this month! We also have some inspiration for you…

Mama Elephant Stamps

These sentiments are *gorgeous* and they stamp perfectly. Now for some inspiration…

Mama Elephant sentiment

Meghan taught the card above in her September 2014 Christmas card class.
The Leaping Deer die is from Memory Box & cut out with American Crafts Pow glitter paper.

Hero Arts Wreath

This wreath card was taught in Meghan’s February 2014 Christmas card class.
The tiny stars are from the same ME set and the wreath is a Hero Arts stamp (in stock!) embossed with Zing Metallic Green powder.

Here’s another favourite set from Mama Elephant…

And some more inspiration…

Mama Elephant Deer

This card was taught in Meghan’s April Christmas card class.
The deer and sentiment were both stamped on birch patterned paper with Jet Black Archival Ink, then a sheet of 6×6 double-sided Scor-tape was cut to fit and adhered to panel. Stickles Dry Glitter (Rock Candy) was sprinkled over the exposed scor-tape. The inside of the card features the “Sparkle & Shine” holiday sentiment from the same stamp set.

Here’s are two more sets on our wish list…

Don’t forget the Everyday Greetings…

They also have some gorgeous NEW stamps that were just released this week – cute Arctic Penguins, Alpine Carolers, and more.

We have pinned a ton of wonderful inspiration by many other card makers around the world on our Mama Elephant Pinterest board – go check it out!

Mama Elephant is turning TWO this month and they now have die-cuts to coordinate with many of their stamp sets!

We are currently taking pre-orders for anything from:
Mama Elephant website
Hero Arts website

Prices will differ due to shipping, customs, etc. Hero Arts & Mama Elephant stamps and products are all premium quality – made in the USA!

Mojo Monday – The Old is New Again

Posted by Janna

Don’t you love finding a $20 bill in the pocket of a coat you haven’t worn in awhile?

That’s usually the feeling I get during the month of January when I organize my scrap space and find something that I had either forgotten I had, or haven’t used in a long time.

I came across a Cover-A-Card stamp from Impression Obsession that reminded me of the trees around my cabin. Then I decided to take out some shadow inks from Hero Arts. I love the shadow inks, they are super for creating backgrounds and the new Mid-Tone collection is awesome. I used a foam applicator and created the background with “Fresh Peach”, then stamped the trees over it in “Charcoal.”

I went through my patterned paper and found a neutral background and stamped the trees again along the bottom of the page for my layout. Found a few washi tapes I had yet to try, a brad from a pack I bought last year, and a leftover end of twine. Assembled it all together and ended up with a layout of a recent night up at our cabin.

I added a finishing touch with the tag at the bottom right of my photo which I stamped with the December Technique Tuesday Studio AE stamp set. We keep a running list of customers who love to get the exclusive monthly Studio AE sets for $21.99. Each month they release a limited edition, exclusive stamp set designed by Ali Edwards – these are so hot they don’t usually make it out on the shelf.

The new Technique Tuesday stamps and dies being released this weekend at CHA are beautiful, {check them out here}. If you want to add your name to the monthly Studio AE Club list, or pre-order any of the new TT stamp sets, drop us a line and let us know.

This week’s Mojo Monday challenge is to go through your “stash” and use something that you had forgotten you had, or haven’t used in a long time. Don’t forget to upload your finished projects to our Mojo Monday gallery on Facebook. One lucky participant who uploads their project will win a “Fresh Peach” Shadow Ink from Hero Arts.

Drop by the store and mention that you read our Mojo Monday post this week and receive a 30% discount on any Cover-a-Card background stamps by Impression Obsession! (limited to stock on hand- offer good until January 31st, 2014).

Have fun!

We will also be making another order of Dina Wakley stamps from Stampington & Company – send us your wishlists!

Can’t wait for our big weekend with Dina next month! Let us know if you’d like to order anything from her supply lists:

  • Basic crafting tool kit (pencil, scissors, Ranger craft sheet, paint rag, paint brushes, palette knife, paint palette, water container to clean your brushes in, baby wipes)
  • White acrylic gesso
  • Gel medium (a must for both classes… essential to one of the collage techniques)
  • Palette knife (plastic is fine)
  • Acrylic paint in your favorite colors (ie: Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paint).
  • 4 sheets of printed paper such as pages from an old book, sheet music, newspaper…anything printed.
  • A small collection of collage papers & fabrics that appeal to you. Dina will bring her standard box of papers, but your journal will be more personal if you use papers & fabrics that you like.
  • Pens that will write over dried paint for journaling in the album (ie: Faber Castell Pitt Pen – en route to The Paperie in packs of four)
  • Quotes, song lyrics, sage words of advice….any text that is meaningful to you in your life. You can just bring a list so you can hand-write it in your journal, or you can type it & print it and use the print-out in your journal.
  • Optional: Any of your favorite stamps. Dina will bring a large assortment for class use, but bring any that you like as well (label with your name).
  • Optional: Permanent Ink pads. Dina likes Ranger Archival pads because they’re permanent and stamp well on paint and ink. She will have some to share, but it might be nice for you to have your own.  The Paperie stocks a nice selection.

INTRO TO ART JOURNALING (Sunday, August 18th)

  • Basic crafting tool kit (pencil, scissors, Ranger craft sheet, paint rag, paint brushes, palette knife, paint palette, water container to clean your brushes in, baby wipes)
  • White acrylic gesso
  • Acrylic paints in an assortment of colors (Dina prefers artist-quality paint, but bring what you’ve got).
  • Paintbrushes—one or two should be fine… Dina recommends a large flat brush, about ¾”. Foam brushes will get you by but are not ideal.  She likes the Claudine Hellmuth brush assortment by Ranger – they are inexpensive and good quality.
  • Pen for writing (such as an ultra-fine or extra-fine point Sharpie, Faber-Castell Pitt pen, or Sharpie Water-based Poster-paint marker in Extra-fine point)
  • Gel medium. Dina uses gel medium as her adhesive (matte gel).
  • Black ink pad (Dina recommends Ranger’s Archival black pad, and will have some for class use, too)
  • Any rubber stamps that appeal to you. Dina will have many for class use.
  • Optional: a journal to work in. We will be working in class on watercolor paper, but if you’d also like to work in a journal, feel free. Choose a journal with heavy pages—preferably watercolor paper.
  • Optional: any papers or scraps or pictures that inspire you. Dina will be giving you an assortment of ephemera, but if you have something you love, feel free to bring it.
